Julia Rucker

Hi! Welcome to TIC 2008. My name is Julia Rucker and I am this year's Site Director at the VA St. Luke's Campus. This is my fourth summer working at TIC but my first in Virginia. I'm actually an import from Minneapolis, Minnesota, so being in the DC area for the summer is a great change of pace (and climate!). I love silly movies, dancing in my living room with music really loud and summer BBQs with friends. I'm so glad that you're a part of TIC this summer and hope you have a fabulous time at camp!
Alyson Szymanski
Senior Director
Alyson returns for her sixth and last summer at TIC on staff as troubleshooter extraordinaire, fair godmother, senior director, trouble maker, and a host of other titles. She appears from time to time at both the Virginia and Maryland campuses, wherever she is most desired. After the summer Alyson will be taking up residence in Seattle, Washington as an Associate Producer for Microsoft's Games Studio. Her deepest darkest secret is her passion for the color yellow, lady bugs, and Hilary Duff.
Julie Anderson

Hello! My name is Julie Anderson and I am this year's Athletic Director at the VA St. Luke's Campus. This is my fifth summer working at TIC; three years at the Woods Academy in MD and two years at St. Luke's. I am a graduate of James Madison University and still love cheering for the Dukes! Any JMU Dukes out there? I currently spend the school year training for color war, while teaching for Arlington County in my spare time. I'm so excited for this summer and go BLUE TEAM!
Nick Swider

Hi! Welcome to TIC 2008! My name is Nick Swider and I am this year's Technology Director at the VA St. Luke's Campus. This is my second summer working at TIC, both in Virginia. I'm actually an import from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so being in the DC area for the summer is a great change of pace (and climate!). Koosha Adham

My name is Koosha Adham I am 21 years old and I am currently a student at George Mason University. I am a nursing major (B.S.N.) for the class of 2006. This year is my first year at TIC and I will be the Camp Nurse. I spend most of my free time at the McLean Volunteer Fire Department doing primarily EMS work.
Heidi Hartz
Extended Day Supervisor
Hello my name is Heidi Hartz and I enjoy my time being the Extended Day Supervisor. It is a lot of fun to be in the presence of the campers as they get a re-boost from snack and can enjoy activities until they are picked up. I enjoy playing basketball and board games with the campers. My hobbies when not at TIC include fishing and baseball games.

Chris Alvarez

My name is Chris Alvarez. I am 18 years old and a sophomore studying animation at Brigham Young University. This is my first year working with TIC and I am a Graphics Counselor. I was born and raised in Falls Church. I thoroughly love art, drawing, animation, and most all other artistic things. Much of my ispiration comes from Ninja Turtles and Naruto. I am aiming to gain a job with Pixar after I graduate from BYU.
Joe Anderson

Hey everyone!  My name is Joe Anderson and I'm 18 years old.  I've lived in Arlington for the past 8 years after having moved all over the place from San Diego to Virginia Beach.  I graduated from Yorktown High School this  June and I'll be going to James Madison University next year to study physics.  I'm an athletic counselor at TIC in my first year here.  I love playing ultimate frisbee, and I've always enjoyed playing soccer.  I'm excited about this summer and I know we're going to have an awesome time!
Mike Archibald

My name is Michael Archibald I'm 19. I was born and bred in the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. I am now studying Television Production at Jewel and Esk College in Edinburgh. When I graduate I want to work as an production manager with a TV company or go freelancing as a camera man! I like watching soccer, playing on the internet or with a video camera (of course) and going out with friends!This is my first year at TIC as an international video production counselor, and I am very excited about it!
Joe Burgess

Joe Burgess currently lives in McLean, Virginia. He just graduated from McLean High School and this is his first year at TIC. He is teaching multimedia this year.
Amanda Chan

This is Amanda's first year as a programming counselor at TIC. She is a seventeen-year-old Arlington native, and will be a senior next year at Yorktown High School. Amanda discovered computers at the age of three and has been hooked ever since; she also enjoys hiking, biking, and cooking.

Hi! My name is Brad DuBose. I am 18 years old and have recently completed my first year of school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. I have spent two years as a camper at TIC, and this is my first year as a counselor. I am very excited to be teaching Web Design!

John Connor Echols, 19, is a rising sophmore at Gettysburg College and is majoring in Civil War Studies. This is his first year here as an athletic counselor at TIC. Connor would like you all to know that he is "the terminator."

My name is Greg Epremian. I am 18 years old. I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School this year and will be enrolling at Bucknell University in the fall where I will be studying mechanical engineering. This is my first year at TIC and I am a programming counselor. I was born in New York and live in McLean.

David "grandpa" Goodman (age 24) returns to TIC for the third time after a year and half of working in the online e-learning business in Scotland. He offers this joke: What do you call a fat penguin? Something to break the ice.

My name is David Greczner and this fall I will be a 17 year old freshman at Cornell University, where I aspire to be a software engineer. This year is my first full summer here at TIC as a programming counselor, since I subbed briefly last year.

I am a 17-year-old rising senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and at TIC I am a programming counselor. Although I was born and grew up in England, I have been in the US for the last 7 years, and have come to enjoy the opportunities I have here.

Hi, I'm Stephen (Potato) Head. I am a 20 year old physics major at Carnegie Mellon University. This is my third year as a counselor and like 1 billionth counting camper years. I have also been to 5/7 continents.
Garrett Hennigan

Garrett Hennigan, 19, eagerly joins the TIC staff this year teaching Digital Music. A sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, Garrett plans to major in Psychology. Outside of classes, he is heavily involved in technical theater as a sound designer, an enthusiastic a cappella singer, and an accomplished rock climber.
Darren Hockey

Darren Hockey, older than time itself, is teaching his second summer at TIC. He is the Media Mix and WebDesign counselor. Normally he sounds like a pirate, but he frequently puts on a fake London accent. He is now attending the University of Southampton.
Ted Hogeman

Like a pinball in the Great Arcade Machine of Earth, Ted Hogeman has bounced around to Montreal, Tanzania, Taiwan, China, and Northern Virginia. He is currently a senior at William and Mary, and hopes to write and/or direct feature films. At TIC he will share his love of making movies and visual storytelling as a Video Production counselor.

She recently competed in the Irish Dancing World Championships, enjoys spending time outdoors, and loves to bake.

Mike Houston, 23, graduated from the University of Missouri this year. It is his fourth year here as an athletic counselor. Some fun facts about Houston are: he is an ultimate frisbee enthusiast and also does not know how to ride a bike.
Blake Howard

Blake Howard, 20, is very excited to be at TIC as Drama Specialist.. He graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts drama program in 2006, and has been teaching children ever since. Blake is an avid fencing enthusiast as well as a music fan.

Matt Jones is 20 years old and recently finished his sophomore year at the University of Mary Washington, where he’s double-majoring in Computer Science and Math. He has worked at summer camps before, but this is his first year at TIC.

Hello! I currently attend Mary Washington University where I am pursuing a degree in pizzanomics and ice-creamology. As for my position at TIC, my contract says the 'unyielding presence of authority' or something along those lines. To summarize, I look forwards to meeting all the cats this summer and preparing them for the Feline Festival of 2008!

My name is Ryan Macpherson, and I just wrapped up my first year at the University of Virginia after graduating from Robinson Secondary in Fairfax, VA. Although this is only my first year as an Athletic Counselor at TIC, I have a lot to share regarding sports. I am a two-time 1st team All-District basketball playe, but I have just as much fun playing rugby.

Will is joining us in his second year as a counselor, teaching programming. He was a camper at TIC for many years before. He has just finished up high school at Thomas Jefferson and will be attending Purdue University in the fall.

Chase Raines, 19, is entering his Sophmore year at Dartmouth and majoring in Biology. This is his first year as an athletic counselor for TIC. He does not like sushi.
Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith, 16, is an Arlington native and rising junior at Yorktown High. Shannon attended TIC as a camper, worked as a CIT (Counselor in Training), and last year she was Office Assistant. This is her first year as an Athletic Counselor. In her free time Shannon enjoys being with friends, playing basketball and lacrosse.

Hi, my name is Lily and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. I moved to Virginia to attend the University of Mary Washington and to be closer to my extended family. I graduated this past December with a BS in Environmental Science and I'm still not sure what exactly I want to do. This is my first year at TIC as the Tennis Specialist. I was on the Varsity tennis team for three years in High School, but in college I played Ultimate Frisbee instead. I love being outdoors playing sports, hiking, or going to the beach.
Alec Thomson

Alec Thomson recently graduated from the Maret School in Washington DC. He is 18 years old and will be starting college at MIT this fall. Alec was previously a camper, CIT, and staff assistant at TIC. This is his second year as a programming counselor. Alec was born in Istanbul, Turkey and lived in England for three years before moving to the Washington DC Area. Alec also is an avid player of the alto saxophone and is awesome at playing with yo-yos.

I’m Kevin Wright, a 19 year old sophomore mechanical engineering student at Georgia Tech. I'm the robotics counselor and this is my third year at TIC. My life’s ambition is to create a robotic butler that can cook, clean, and do yard work while standing on its hands.

I'm Angela, I'm 17 years old and I am a rising senior at HB Woodlawn in Arlington. I have attended TIC for many years and this summer I am a Staff Assitant. I enjoy corny science jokes, music, and bad puns.
Ian Whittington

Ian Whittington, a junior at HB Woodlawn, has been going to TIC for almost 8 years. This year he is our Office Assistant. He enjoys food, funny things, and action movies. He also plans to finish his beard before the end of the summer.
