Campers who want to create classical, techno, or hip hop music on the computer love this option. They use digital audio programs (Garage Band, Propellorhead's Reason) to learn song form and arranging. Pads, Patches, Compression, Reverb, and Mixing Boards may all sound like foreign words now, but campers soon become familiar with advanced industry tools to realize their musical creativity. Keyboards and mics are provided for recording, and campers learn to export their songs into compatible forms for social media and iTunes uploads, so their family and friends can listen in.
They burn CDs to take home at the end of the session. (Sometimes they even design their own CD covers.)
[Prerequisite: two years of music lessons, preferably piano.]
