JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

PROGRAMMING COUNSELOR works with four campers at a time on two computers, teaching programming through projects the campers define themselves. Must have a strong background in at least one computer language (e.g. LOGO, Visual BASIC, C, C++, or Java).

ROBOTICS COUNSELOR works with four campers at a time on two computers, using LEGO Mindstorms and LCSI's MicroWorlds EX Robotics to teach campers to construct and program their robots. Must have a strong background in programming and experience with robotics.

FILMMAKING COUNSELOR works with small groups of campers, teaching them to brainstorm, write scripts, shoot and edit to produce a live-action video. Must possess skills in film production (e.g. majoring in film; experience with camcorders and digital editors). Competence with Final Cut Pro is required.

ANIMATION COUNSELOR works with four campers at a time on two computers, teaching them 2D or 3D animation techniques with output to videotape or DVD. We use Macromedia Flash, Carrera, Poser, and Maya.

WEB DESIGN COUNSELOR teaches campers to produce their own original web pages. Must have knowledge of web tools and techniques (e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript) and a strong sense of design.

DIGITAL ARTS COUNSELOR teaches the campers a variety of graphic arts and helps them to collaborate on a multimedia project involving print, web, and/or video. Must have extensive artistic skill, training in photography, and experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as some skills in web and animation techniques.

DIGITAL MUSIC COUNSELOR teaches music synthesis to campers who have some musical ability and at least two years of music lessons. Must have experience with Cakewalk, Reason or other composition software. Knowledge of computer programming would be a strong additional asset.

ATHLETIC COUNSELOR works with small groups of campers, helping them to develop athletically and socially. General skills in team and individual sports are required, with a specialty in one of the following: soccer, basketball, softball, frisbee, hockey, football, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics (tumbling only), martial arts or dance.

DRAMA SPECIALIST teaches campers to stage an original production for the end of each session. A strong theatre background is preferred (a college major plus some professional experience), and a real interest in teaching is also required. Drama Specialists must also have skills to participate in the athletics program each day.

TENNIS SPECIALIST teaches tennis lessons to beginning or intermediate level players for two hours daily. Experience in teaching or coaching tennis is required. Specialists are also general athletic counselors for part of each day.

CAMP NURSE/OFFICE MANAGER is the chief health provider on the camp site (makes decisions about accidents or illness; maintains records on campers and staff; administers medication under the direction of our consulting physician); and also manages the Camp Office (greeting parents, answering the telephone, keeping attendance records, filing, delivering messages, ordering lunches, distributing camper T-shirts). Must be mature and competent, have a calm demeanor and some experience in health care. RN, LPN, or EMT desirable but current certification in First Aid and CPR is sufficient. EXTENDED DAY SUPERVISOR runs the Extended Day Program from 3:00 to 6:00 each day; prepares a nutritious snack; supervises 5-8 counselors; records attendance, plans indoor and outdoor activities for 30-40 children.
