JOB DESCRIPTIONS (number of openings):


PROGRAMMING COUNSELORS (20) work with four campers at a time on two computers, teaching programming through projects the campers define themselves. Must have a strong background in at least one computer language (e.g. LOGO, BASIC, Pascal, Visual BASIC, C, C++, or Java).

ROBOTICS COUNSELORS (4) work with four campers at a time on two computers, using LEGO Mindstorms and LCSI's MicroWorlds EX Robotics to teach campers to construct and program their robots. Must have a strong background in programming and experience with robotics.

VIDEO COUNSELORS (6) work with small groups of campers, teaching them to brainstorm, write scripts, shoot and edit to produce a live-action video. Must possess skills in video production (e.g. majoring in film; experience with camcorders and digital editors). Competence with Final Cut Pro is required.

ANIMATION COUNSELORS (4) work with four campers at a time on two computers, teaching them 2D or 3D animation techniques with output to videotape or CD. We use Macromedia Flash, Carrera and Poser.

NEWSPAPER COUNSELORS (2) teach the campers desktop publishing, journalism, graphic design and layout while helping them to produce an issue of TIC TALK, the camp newspaper, each session. Must have training and experience with Photoshop, and In Design.

GRAPHICS COUNSELORS (4) teach the campers digital art and help them create poster art, screen savers, or publish their artwork in TIC Talk. Must have artistic skill, training, and experience with Illustrator and Photoshop.

WEB DESIGN COUNSELORS (8) teach campers to produce their own original web pages. Must have knowledge of web tools and techniques (e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript) and a strong sense of design.

DIGITAL MUSIC COUNSELORS (2) teach music synthesis to campers who have some musical ability and at least two years of music lessons. Must have experience with Cakewalk, Reason or other composition software. Knowledge of computer programming would be a strong additional asset.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY/MEDIA MIX COUNSELORS (2) teach the senior campers digital photography and the junior campers to create projects using several digital media. Must have extensive artistic skill, training in photography, and experience with Illustrator and Photoshop. Some skill in the use of web and animation techniques also required.

ATHLETIC COUNSELORS (20) work with small groups of campers, helping them to develop athletically and socially. General skills in team and individual sports are required, with a specialty in one of the following: soccer, basketball, swimming, softball, frisbee, hockey, football, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics (tumbling only), martial arts or dance.

DRAMA SPECIALISTS (2) are athletic counselors for part of each day. They teach campers to stage an original production for the end of each session. A strong theatre background is preferred (a college major plus some professional experience), and a real interest in teaching is also required.

TENNIS SPECIALISTS (2) are athletic counselors for part of each day. They teach tennis lessons to beginning or intermediate level players for two hours daily. Experience in teaching or coaching tennis is required.

CAMP NURSE (2) makes decisions about accidents or illness; maintains records on campers and staff; administers medication under the direction of our consulting physician; and supervises the camp clinic. Must be mature and competent, have a calm demeanor and experience in health care. RN, LPN, or EMT desirable; current certification in First Aid and CPR required. EXTENDED DAY SUPERVISOR (2) runs the Extended Day Program from 3:00 to 6:00 each day; prepares a nutritious snack; supervises 5-8 counselors; records attendance, plans indoor and outdoor activities for 30-40 children. OFFICE ASSISTANT (2) runs the Camp Office each day: answering the telephone, managing attendance records, filing, delivering messages, ordering lunches, maintaining petty cash, distributing camper T-shirts.
