This summer, the VA Site has been participating in TIC’s new program called G.R.O.W. (Girls Rock Our World). The goal of G.R.O.W. is to provide an intentional space where any girl campers can share their interests, ideas, and challenges with each other. Any female-identifying campers are welcome to join some of our female staff twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) for lunch to talk about the struggles and triumphs of being a female in the fields of technology and athletics.
Today, our G.R.O.W. girls did a super fun activity relating to compliments. First we discussed what kind of compliments we typically receive from boys, parents, teachers, counselors, and each other. Then we discussed what kind of compliments we would LIKE to receive from these people. Then we made paper buttons to show what we talked about that say “NOT JUST _______, I AM________”, and the girls filled in the blanks with a compliment they typically get and then one that they would like to receive.
