We are very excited to introduce our Programming Directors for 2018! Our Programming Directors don’t just oversee our Programming program, they also oversee our Robotics rooms and Circuitry circuses (circi?)(nah.)
All our Programming Directors are computer science experts! When something is not working properly, they are able to come up with solutions beyond ctrl+alt+del, which in my opinion makes them equivalent to super heroes. Let’s find out a little more about them!
Deirbhile “Derv” Larkin is returning to her position as Programming Director for a 2nd year! She comes to TIC-DC all the way from Ireland, bringing her passion for programming as well as an affinity for pranks. Each morning when taking attendance Derv asks each programming camper the “question of the day.” She listens intently to each answer because she knows everything is not #000000 or #FFFFFF.
Jonathan Gelman will be joining us as a Programming Director for TIC-Maryland this summer! He is known for being witty and having a zealousness for circuitry. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys fishing, although he admits that he cannot always get them to byte.
Ben Young has been around TIC for many years, but is joining us as a Programming Director for this first time this year! Besides being a computer whiz, Ben also enjoys rowing crew and got 2nd place as the hide-n-seek world championships! First place went to ;
Since Programming requires so much expertise, we feel very lucky to have these Director’s on our team. We can’t wait to get these folks on-site and making our coding programs the best they can be! Remember friends: There’s 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those who don’t.
